                                                Score: 7/10 (Average)

                   Pros:

Nice design, good looking display, hell of a bargain

                   Cons:

Slow processor, Android 2.3, average cameras

It's been over a year since the LG Marquee originally debuted on Sprint's network. When it came out, it featured top of the line specs for it's time. Fast forward a year and the LG Marquee is now available for purchase as a phone through Ting's service. So does buying a phone that is over a year old really make sense today? Read the review and find out.

Build Quality: Overall, the
build quality of the Marquee feels very sturdy. I have dropped the Marquee a couple times and I can't find any signs of damage to the device.

Hardware: The Marquee packs a 1GHz single-core processor and 512MB of RAM and it really does show its age. Swiping through homescreens is quite laggy and, while games like Angry Birds run fine, they do run much smoother on today's newer handsets. While  it's processing power is outdated, it works fine for basic day-to-day use.
The LG Marquee has a 4-inch  screen and has an 800 x 480 WVGA resolution with 233 ppi (pixels-per-inch).  Although the screen sounds under par, it actually looks quite beautiful. Text is  crisp, colors are very vibrant, and the brightness on this screen is  incredible. One of my biggest issues  with the Marquee though is it's external speakers. These may be some of the  worst speakers I have ever heard on a phone. They are far too quiet and  there is little to no base with them. If you plan on listening to music on this  phone, make sure you have some headphones and a speaker before you do  so.

Software: The Marquee runs Android  2.3 Gingerbread (2.3.4 to be exact) and it really is showing it's age.  Gingerbread is over a year old now and Android version 4.2 is already out there.  While 2.3 is a perfectly capable operating system and works fine for calling,  texting,
web browsing, and running light apps, it is extremely lacking in  features and polish when compared to newer versions of Android,  4.0+.

Camera: On the back of the Marquee you will find a 5MP camera, capable of recording 720p HD video. On the front you will find the Marquee's 2MP camera. Pictures and videos taken from the rear-facing camera are very average, as well as the front-facing one. They both perform just  fine and will get the job done, but don't expect any more from that out of them.

Call Quality: The call quality on the LG  Marquee performed quite well. People I talked to on the phone said that they  could hear me just fine and I could hear them well to.

Value: The LG Marquee is currently selling for $87 on Ting's website and that is one hell of a steal. That's with no contract wither. You are basically buying an unlocked Android phone for less than $100. Even if you don't want to use the Marquee as a phone, it would still be a great deal if you want a cheap media player powered by Android.
Final Verdict: Overall, the LG Marquee is a solid Android phone and is a great deal for the price you pay. Sure it may not have the fastest processor and newest version of Android, it performs just fine for normal phone use and a little more. If you are looking for an Android phone on Ting's service for under $100, the LG Marquee is the way to go.
